Cholera and starvation are on the rise in Haiti

We must not forget about Haiti.

Satellite images of southern Haiti before and after Hurricane Matthew.  Even to the untrained eye, the loss of green vegetation in the image on the right is striking.

Dear Friends,
New satellite photos taken from space by NASA reveal the extent of the devastation in Haiti.
As you know we have been responding with relief from the very beginning, but the situation remains desperate.

The rains have been unrelenting, causing further swelling of rivers and mass flooding. Cholera is spreading throughout the region and potable water remains scarce.
Food insecurity is another major threat. Families have lost entire crops, which serve as their only source of food. The threat of famine is very real.

In the days following the storm, our community health workers identified 6,000 families who need food and water to survive. Thanks to the generosity of people like you, we have already raised enough money to distribute essential relief to 3,100 families. Please, help us reach all 6,000.

A gift of $100 will buy a household recovery kit for a family. Each kit includes:
  • Water purification tablets, to prevent cholera
  • Food
  • Hygiene kits
  • Household supplies

In a major disaster like this, it is easy to lose perspective of the scale of the tragedy. Every impacted family is now facing the threat of cholera and starvation. And each family matters.

Let’s continue praying for the people of Haiti as they are fighting for their survival.
