Dear Family of Mary!

March 2, 2015
"Dear children! You are my strength. You, my apostles, who with your love, humility and silence of prayer are making it possible for one to come to know my Son.

You live in me. You carry me in your heart. You know that you have a mother who loves you and who has come to bring love.

I am looking at you in the Heavenly Father - your thoughts, your pains, your sufferings - and I offer them to my Son. Do not be afraid and do not lose hope, because my Son listens to his mother.

Since He was born He loves and I desire for all of my children to come to know that love. I desire that all those who left Him because of their pain and misunderstanding may return to Him and that all those who have never known Him may come to know Him.

That is why you are here, my apostles, and I as a mother am with you. Pray for the firmness of faith, because love and mercy come from firm faith. Through love and mercy you will help all those who are not aware that they are choosing darkness instead of light.

Pray for your shepherds because they are the strength of the Church which My Son left to you. Through my Son, they are the shepherds of souls. Thank you."

What a beautiful message we received on Monday at the Blue Cross through Mirjana! We are still rejoicing in the love of Our Lady!

Denis just keeps saying to himself, over and over, "Dear children! You are my strength." He is so proud. So full of joy that Our Lady said this to us. How can we understand this loving statement?

From a mother's standpoint, I have an idea. Our Lady is the mother of so many children! I know what it is to be a mother of many children, having had eight. I can remember being so overwhelmed some days - so many needs, so little time. But at those moments there would always be a child that noticed my distress and would just start helping me. Whether it was to pick up the crying baby and entertain him for a bit, or to set the table for dinner, or to just smile and tell me a joke, the effect was the same. I felt strengthened by that child who understood my need and helped me. This is the kind of strength a mother cherishes. It is help offered in the communion of love.

Maybe this is what Our Lady sees in us! We who have responded to her call in Medjugorje are only a small part of her world-wide family, and yet we understand her heart and want to help her to save her other children. We have given ourselves to her. We are being taught and led by her. And our communion of heart with our Mother leads us to support her, through our prayer and sacrifice as she labors to save her lost children. Maybe we are the kids who are aware of her huge task, and have come to help!

This makes Denis very proud, and I am proud of all of us for being there for Our Lady!

This week Denis and I and Tom and Mary Matasso are attending a leader's meeting hosted by St. James Parish. The pastor, Fr. Marinko Sakota, is leading the retreat. There are several hundred participants from all over the world. It is beautiful to see how widespread Our Lady's call is. So many language groups are present! Please pray for this retreat, that those who serve pilgrims from all over the world will be refreshed and renewed in prayer for the big job of bringing pilgrims to Medjugorje!!

Jakov Colo, visionary, spoke to the retreatants yesterday. He said that if you come to Medjugorje you can assume that Our Lady invited you. No matter what, you have been called. He said it with such conviction that it really hit me. If this is true, we can only trust that Our Lady will do what needs to be done in each of our lives. She will accomplish great things in us, through her love and the Holy Spirit. And we will be part of her solution for the world.

At the International Mass later yesterday, I found myself before the statue of Our Lady in the church. This statue means a great deal to me. It is Our Lady of Lourdes, who is my saint for 2015. Thank you, dearest Mother, for inviting me to Medjugorje these days. May all your plans for me, for our team and for our shipmates around the world be accomplished!!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
