Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children, I, the mother of all of you gathered here and the mother of the entire world, am blessing you with a motherly blessing and call you to set out on the way of humility. That way leads to the coming to know the love of my Son. My Son is almighty, He is in everything. If you, my children, do not become cognizant of this, then darkness/blindness rule in your soul. Only humility can heal you. My children, I always lived humbly, courageously and in hope. I knew, I became cognizant that God is in us and we are in God. I am asking the same of you. I desire for all of you to be with me in eternity, because you are a part of me. I will help you on your way. My love will envelop you like a mantle and make of you apostles of my light - of God's light. With the love that comes forth from humility you will bring light to where darkness/blindness rule. You will be bringing my Son who is the light of the world. I am always alongside your shepherds and I pray that they may always be an example of humility for you. Thank you." (July 2, 2014)

"I will help you on your way. My love will envelop you like a mantle and make of you apostles of my light - of God's light. With the love that comes forth from humility you will bring light to where darkness/blindness rule. You will be bringing my Son who is the light of the world...."

Mother Mary tells us she will help us on our way. This "way" is the journey of our lives. We are on a journey to eternity. We plod along, one day at a time, down the road of time until we reach the end of our allotted time. Most of the time I don't think we realize we are on such a road. Life seems big and important, this life on earth. So we spend most of our energy on living here and now. But if we looked up, we would see that there is an end to our road of life. And we will meet that end, without fail.

But thanks be to God, we are not alone on this journey. Our Lady is with us to help us on the way! And how? "My love will envelop you like a mantle..."  Our Lady wants to overwhelm us with her love, encircle us with her love, sweep us off our feet with her love. She wants to cover us with her love like a mantle of protection. Somehow this is an important metaphor, telling us something about how our journey will be changed by her presence.

Though the main use of a mantle is to protect and cover the person, and Our Lady's love does just that, I think she has even more to say about this metaphor. I looked up the Biblical usage of the word, "mantle", and discovered that the mantle was particularly important as a symbol of the prophetic mission. Elijah had a mantle with which he did miracles (like parting water) and Elisha received Elijah's mantle when the prophetic mission was passed on to him (See 2Kings 2). In that context, it would seem that Our Lady's love is like a prophetic mantle, which denotes a mission. And when she covers us with her mantle (which is love) we share in her mission. She says that her love is like a mantle and with it she will make us apostles - apostles of her light which is God's light. Her love can empower us to be messengers of God's love, witnesses of God's love in this darkened and blind world. (You can read more about mantle in the Bible at this link: http://www.gotquestions.org/mantle-Bible.html )

Some theologians think that the mantle can denote the Holy Spirit. This also fits. Our Lady says her love is like a mantle, and her love is empowered by the Holy Spirit who is Love! So her love brings the Holy Spirit to us, the One who can make us witnesses of Jesus, who is the Light of the world.

Well, it is really amazing how rich Our Lady's words to us are. Our Lady gives us her love. It covers us like a mantle, a mantle that protects and comforts us, and also empowers us to be witnesses to Jesus who is Love! With this mantle of light, we can help to fight the darkness that threatens to swallow the world. We can be apostles of light, the Light, Christ the Light!! How, through love!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
