Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! With joy in the heart I love you all and call you to draw closer to my Immaculate Heart so I can draw you still closer to my Son Jesus, and that He can give you His peace and love, which are nourishment for each one of you. Open yourselves, little children, to prayer - open yourselves to my love. I am your mother and cannot leave you alone in wandering and sin. You are called, little children, to be my children, my beloved children, so I can present you all to my Son. Thank you for having responded to my call." (June 25, 2013)

Tomorrow we will begin the 33 Day Consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary proposed by St. Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort. For 33 days we will pray together and meditate on Jesus, Mary and our life with them. At the end we will consecrate ourselves to Jesus through Mary. The day of consecration will be August 15, 2013- the Feast of the Assumption!!

I will include the consecration preparation in my daily reflections for these 33 days. And each day, during the Daily Rosary (Streamed live at 10:00 am EDT at www.marytv.tv ) we will pray the prayers and share some thoughts on the consecration. We hope many of you can join us.

This message of June 25, 2013 was a confirmation to us to do this consecration during our Daily Rosary. Our Lady tells us to draw closer to her Immaculate Heart so that she can draw us closer to her Son Jesus. That is the essence of the Marian consecration according to St. Louis de Montfort. We just felt strongly inspired to respond to this message by doing this consecration.

Blessed John Paul II recommended that the faithful draw close to Mary in his Encyclical, Redemptoris Mater (Mother of the Redeemer). Here is his recommendation:

Furthermore, Marian spirituality, like its corresponding devotion, finds a very rich source in the historical experience of individuals and of the various Christian communities present among the different peoples and nations of the world. In this regard, I would like to recall, among the many witnesses and teachers of this spirituality, the figure of Saint Louis Marie Grignion de Montfort,143 who proposes consecration to Christ through the hands of Mary, as an effective means for Christians to live faithfully their baptismal commitments. (Redemptoris Mater -On the Blessed Virgin Mary in the life of the Pilgrim Church.)

Indeed, this consecration is an excellent way for us to live out our Baptismal call. We will see this as we proceed through the consecration preparation. I am excited to begin!

May Our Lady bless our efforts to draw close to her Immaculate Heart in these days. And may Jesus give us all the graces necessary to persevere in this time of preparation.

God bless you all!
