Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! You are the ones responsible for the messages. The source of grace is here, but you, dear children, are the vessels which transport the gifts. Therefore, dear children, I am calling you to do your job with responsibility. Each one shall be responsible according to his own ability. Dear children, I am calling you to give the gifts to others with love, and not to keep them for yourselves. Thank you for having responded to my call."   (May 8, 1986)

I want to share a little vignette from Tea with Rosey for August 12, 2012, our little Medjugorje news update on our webpage, narrated by Rosey Zubac. This little story says so much:

This morning I met a lady from Amsterdam, and she told me that the last place Mother Teresa visited before she died was Amsterdam, and she [Mother Teresa] said it was one of the greatest places of poverty in the world. What she meant was spiritual [poverty] because there is no faith over there. This lady came to Medjugorje. She got a picture of Our Lady here. And she took it home with her. She lives on a ground floor flat, and she placed the picture on one of her windows, facing outwards. And she said that there was a lady that used to walk her dog every morning and go past her window. And eventually after a few days she stopped there, at the picture, and she started to pray. And as time went by more and more people came to pray at the image of Our Lady there. This same lady, two years ago, met her husband to be in the church right here in Medjugorje.

I marvel at the courage of the woman from Amsterdam. She went to Medjugorje to strengthen her faith. She carried an image of Our Lady home with her. But instead of keeping that image for herself, in some hidden place in her house, she placed it in her window, facing outwards for all to see. She actually lived Our Lady's words perfectly:"Dear children, I am calling you to give the gifts to others with love, and not to keep them for yourselves." In that very impoverished city, where God seems to have been forgotten, Our Lady was able to find some of her lost children because that woman was willing to transport the gifts received in Medjugorje to her own window.

Who knows what drew the woman who walked her dog to stop at the picture. Perhaps some memory of faith from her distant childhood was stirred by Our Lady's picture. Perhaps she was drawn to the love which Our Lady signifies in her divine maternity. Perhaps it was just the beauty of the artist's depiction of Mary. For certain, it was the Holy Spirit who persuaded her to stop, and to begin to pray. And her example then drew others to that same source of grace.

We have all been given the gift of faith in Medjugorje, through Our Lady's presence and her love for each of us. We have been given love. It is up to us to share that love with others. Maybe we need to display a picture of Our Lady in our window, or on our desk at work, or in are car. Perhaps we need to overtly carry our Rosary in our hand when we walk, or hang it on our rear view mirror. Maybe we need to build a little grotto in our yard. Maybe we just need to smile with the same smile of love Our Lady gives to us. Even a smile can reach into someone's heart and free it of fear and loneliness.

Giving the gifts to others with love....that is our responsibility. What a sweet responsibility. To give gifts. To give love. What a nice job we have!
