Our Shepherds protect the Church- We pray for them!

April 16, 2012

Dear Family of Mary!

Today is the birthday of our dearly beloved Pope Benedict XVI! We want to pray especially for him today, that the Lord will strengthen and renew him for the huge task he has been given, to guide and pastor the Church in these difficult days. He has been pope now for 7 years, and we have been very blessed by his guidance and wisdom.

Our Lady asks us to pray for our Pope, bishops and priests. Listen to her pleas in the last few months:

"I implore you, pray for those whom my Son has chosen. Do not judge because you will all be judged." (01/02/2012)

"Again I implore you to pray for those whom my Son has chosen - those are your shepherds." (02/02/2012)

"Pray for those whom my Son has chosen that they can always live through Him and in Him - the High Priest. Thank you." (03/02/2012)

"Pray for your shepherds that, united in my Son, they can always joyfully proclaim the Word of God. Thank you." (03/18/2012)

"Do not forget your shepherds. Pray that in their thoughts they may always be with my Son who called them to witness Him. Thank you." (04/02/2012)

We can sense the seriousness of Our Lady's call. She knows the terrible responsibility that our shepherds bear, for our souls and the souls of the whole world. They are the bridge between us and the Lord; they keep us connected to God through the Sacraments and their teaching. They will be judged severely for how they handle their responsibility. They have been chosen and have had to give up their own lives to follow Jesus. They can only discharge their duties if they are living "through" Jesus, in His name and by His power. They are called to joyfully proclaim the Gospel, the Word of God, with thoughts that are always with Jesus, in Jesus, the through Jesus. This is no small task.

Especially, we see Pope Benedict XVI, as he struggles with the great questions of our day while he has to contend with his own frailty and the weaknesses in the Church. He is heroic in His faith and love.

Happy Birthday, dear Holy Father!! We pray for you every day! Shine on, in Christ's light! We love you!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
