Saint Luke

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! I call you, that this time be for all of you, a time of witnessing. You, who live in the love of God and have experienced His gifts, witness them with your words and life that they may be for the joy and encouragement to others in faith. I am with you and incessantly intercede before God for all of you that your faith may always be alive and joyful, and in the love of God. Thank you for having responded to my call."

These words of Our Lady make us think of St. Luke, whose feast is today. As on

e of the four great evangelists, St. Luke witnessed with his words and his life to the love of God made manifest in Jesus Christ. His Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles continue to instruct and inspire us to this day. St. Luke wrote under the influence of the Holy Spirit the words of life we so desperately need. Thank you, St. Luke!

We can see the hand of that same Holy Spirit working now through our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI. Only three weeks after Our Lady gave this beautiful message about the faith, Pope Benedict announced on October 16 a "Year of Faith" for the whole Church, to begin on October 11, 2012 and end on The Feast of Christ the King, November 24, 2013! It is not an accident that both Our Lady and the Holy Father are speaking about strengthening our faith in these days.

The Vatican News Service quoted the Holy Father saying that his aim "is to give renewed energy to the Church's mission to lead men and women out of the desert in which they so often find themselves, and towards the place of life, towards friendship with Christ Who gives us life in all its fullness."(Vatican News Service, Oct. 16, 2011)

Our Lady who told us, "You, who live in the love of God and have experienced His gifts, witness them with your words and life that they may be for the joy and encouragement to others in faith." Similarly, the Holy Father said, "New evangelizers are called to be the first to walk along the Path which is Christ, in order to lead others to the beauty of the life-giving Gospel." Each one tells us that we must first experience Christ and His love, in order to lead others to Him and to the life He gives. Faith must be at the base of our lives if we are to bring others to it.

And so, we can look forward to the "Year of Faith" as a time of great renewal in our own lives, as we go back to the basics and return to our roots in Jesus! I, for one, cannot wait to hear what the Holy Father has to teach us about our faith during that year. I need a boost!

Our Lady is already boosting us, though! "I am with you and incessantly intercede before God for all of you that your faith may always be alive and joyful, and in the love of God." We are in good hands!

In Jesus and Mary!

PS. This coming November 17th Mary TV ( www.marytv.tv) will stream live from St. Stephens Cathedral in Vienna an evening of prayer in thanksgiving for 30 years of Our Lady's apparitions in Medjugorje!   The evening begins at 4:00 pm Vienna time (in the USA at 10:00 am, EST) with testimonies (also from Medjugorje) the Rosary, Our Lady's apparition, Mass (with Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn presiding).  The evening concludes with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until 9:00 PM Vienna time (3:00 pm EST in the USA).

Please spread word to everyone on your email list - asking everyone to spread news of this event to their own email lists so as many people as possible will know about it.  Our ability to get word out is very limited - please help.    Remember, Ivan has told us that Our Lady prays over those connected through the internet the same as she prays over the people gathered with her in the Cathedral....and the religious items they have for her to bless are blessed by her the same as those religious items placed right in front of her during her apparition.  Let's take advantage of the incredible grace being offered to us: at www.marytv.tv  on Nov. 17th beginning at 10:00 am (EST).  We will be streaming the evening live in English and also at www.marytv.tv  in Spanish.

And also, pray for Denis and me in Chicago at the Totally Yours Conference, October 22-23, at the Rolling Meadows Holiday Inn. We will speak during the morning session on October 22!! Thanks! (Contact information: http://www.totallyyours.org  Phone: (630) 279-8424
