[MaryVitamin] Saint Colombiere

Mary Vitamin for February 15th

Topic
: St. Claude de la Colombiere (Feb. 15)

Quote:
"As I feel a great attraction toward prayer I asked God, by Our Lady's intercession, to give me the grace to go on increasing in love of this holy exercise until my death."

Meditation:
"It is the only means of purifying us, of uniting us to God, and of allowing God to unite himself to us and be glorified in us. We must pray to obtain the apostolic virtues; pray that we may use them to help others, and pray also that we may not lose them while serving others."
The Spiritual Direction of  Saint Claude De La Colombiere, (Ignatius Press), 13.

The Catechism of of the Catholic Church (#1971) helps to explain the meaning of apostolic virtues:

"To the Lord's Sermon on the Mount it is fitting to add the moral catechesis of the apostolic teachings, such as http://www.drbo.org/chapter/52012.htm" style="text-decoration: none; color: rgb(36, 124, 212);" target="_blank">Romans 12-15, 1Corinthians 12-13, Colossians 3-4, Ephesians 4-5, etc. This doctrine hands on the Lord's teaching with the authority of the apostles, particularly in the presentation of the virtues that flow from faith in Christ and are animated by charity, the principal gift of the Holy Spirit. 'Let charity be genuine. . . . Love one another with brotherly affection. . . . Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality.'"

Resolution:
"Let charity be genuine. . . . Love one another with brotherly affection. . . . Rejoice in your hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints, practice hospitality."

Which of these do I need to pray for?
I will imitate St. Claude and ask to persevere in prayer and virtue through Our Lady's intercession.

Marian Vow:
Bl. Jacinta sums up the missionary aspect of the Marian vow well:

“I know I am going to heaven, Our Lady said so.  But, I want others to go there too.”

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Thanks be to God for graces received.
