Anointing of the Sick

Today was a wonderful day for me! We celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes with Mass and was anointed with Holy Oils as I received the Sacrament of the Sick. This Sacrament was offered by the pastor on this special day of the sick and united with our holy father, Pope Benedict XVI. Why did I receive this Sacrament? Well, first of all because of my diabetes, which has my sugar running high lately for some reason, and the diagnose of my enlarged prostate gland which has me up all night going  to the bathroom. And besides I'm just about 73 years old and never thought I would live this long with my history of an enlarged heart and rheumatic fever, that almost killed me when I was young. The after effects have been the pains in my legs and arthritis. Another  reason was I offered this Sacrament for my wife's health, she couldn't be there, as she struggles with her severe kidney disease, and now has bronchitis!  So by proxy, if that was possible, I received the sacrament for her!

Yes, it was a wonderful Day!
